Our Expertise

Each carpet is a work of patience, precision, and passion. Handmade, it embodies a rare craftsmanship, passed down with exacting standards and fueled by passion.

75 Years of Shared Expertise

Entirely handcrafted in our partner workshops in India and Nepal, our carpets are the result of an ancestral know-how passed down through generations. Here, carpet-making is a living heritage, practiced for centuries with unparalleled mastery. For over 50 years, we have collaborated with the same family-run workshops. This rare loyalty, built on trust, respect for the craft, and mutual understanding, ensures consistently exceptional quality as well as a deep familiarity with our aesthetic and technical standards.

Mastery of Technique, Precision of Time

Weaving, tufting, or hand-knotting: each technique is executed with rigor and exacting standards. Thousands of carefully repeated gestures create carpets with rich textures, balanced compositions, and flawless finishes. A tufted carpet requires between 150 and 200 hours of work, while a hand-knotted carpet can take over 500 hours. Every knot, every thread, every tension reflects extreme attention, imperceptible at first glance, yet tangible underfoot.

The raw materials we select demand specific expertise to reveal their brilliance, suppleness, and softness. Each carpet bears the mark of the hand that crafted it: a deliberate, confident, and attentive gesture, full of meaning.

Three Gestures, Three Languages

Each Toulemonde Bochart carpet is crafted using one of three traditional hand-made techniques: knotting, weaving, or tufting.

Hand-Knotted

The hand-knotted technique is both the oldest and most valued method. Each knot is tied by hand on a vertical loom, creating carpets with extraordinary density, lasting durability, and unmatched elegance.

HAND TUFTED

Faster and more versatile, tufting uses a hand or electric gun to insert wool into a stretched canvas. This technique lets you play with pile heights, textures, loops, and a wide array of creative effects.

HAND-WOVEN

Woven on a horizontal loom, this method creates crisp, graphic patterns. Thinner than hand-knotted carpets, woven carpets have a firmer texture and exceptional design precision. Each thread is carefully placed to achieve perfect compositional balance.
